In terms of area Madhya Pradesh is the 2nd largest state in India and in terms of population, it is 6th. Since independence, Madhya Pradesh plays a vital role in Indian politics and a lot of political stalwarts who changed the politics in India come from that part of the country. Before the separation of Chattisgarh, there are 40 Lok Sabha constituencies in Madhya Pradesh. Now there are 29 Lok Sabha constituencies and six of them are reserved for the ST (Scheduled Tribe) candidates. They send 11 members to the Rajya Sabha. Some of the important Lok Sabha constituencies in Madhya Pradesh are Guna, Gwalior, Indore, Vidisha, and Chindwara.
